Many company executives dislike and distrust IT Departments for a number of reasons:
the associated expenses
don't understand technology
difficulty in finding     affordable quality people
timeline of project completion

The answer
, turn your IT Department from an expense center into a profit center. Most IT Departments contain intellectual property used to run the business and maintain the competitve edge. The rights to assets such as customized software, unique procedures, etc. can be sold to other non-competitive companies for huge profits.

Let Sebring show you how to PROFITize your IT Department.

Business Drivers

U.S. Cellular® needed to enhance their project management processes.
U.S. Cellular®, is a worldwide telecommunications provider. The Western Region of the United States experienced extensive growth requiring utilization of resources from multiple markets for several different projects.

To more accurately plan resource allocation, the decision was made to utilize both MS Project 2003 and MS Project Server 2003. With the advent of MS Project Server 2003 all resources are assigned to a “global resource pool” and all projects acquire available resource from that pool.

IT Environment and Challenges

U.S. Cellular® selects Sebring as it’s single source IT solution.
U.S. Cellular® had installed MS Project several years ago, but had never formally used the proejct to plan or track ongoing tasks or projects. U.S. Cellular® engaged Sebring through an outsourcing agreement to provide full installation of the MS Project 2003 and MS Project Server 2003, project conversion on the system and employee education on the new resource.

Solutions

Sebring Systems successfully upgraded the Western Regions Project Managment System.
The project was completed by Sebring in the following phases:

  • Implemented M/S 2003, set up projects and users for the Western region
  • Trained the engineers in the Tulsa office to use both MS Project and MS Project Server
  • Provided training for regional offices in Longview, Washington and the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  • Created a U.S. Cellular® MS Project Procedure manual that shows how to perform all the functions needed to interface with MS Project and MS Project Server

Business Results

The upgraded environment cut temporary labor costs by $200,000 per month.
Benefits of the upgrade include:

  • Centralized all projects into one tool
  • Eliminated the need for multiple Excel spreadsheets to manage project
  • Established weekly management converence calls to review all projects and dependencies between groups and managers
  • With the advent of MS Project Server 2003 all resources are assigned to a “global resource pool” and all projects acquire available resource from that pool.
